Swindon, surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Great Britain, is a thriving town rich in industrial heritage, high-tech industry, visitor attractions, the arts, parks and gardens, shopping and leisure facilities.
The town dates back to Roman times but one of Swindon’s most significant events took place in 1840, when Isambard Kingdom Brunel chose the town to house what would become the railway works for the Great Western Railway.
The original market area ‘Old Town’, located on top of Swindon Hill, has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years. Today you will find a vibrant mix of traditional shops and pubs alongside modern outlets and stylish cafes and bars.
With blossoming Victorian parks, Swindon is a remarkably ‘green’ place with gardens and woodlands where you can easily escape from the urban delights and enjoy far reaching views and tranquillity.
