A local football club founded in 1949, its grounds are set in Cantilever Park. The club won the Unibond League Fairplay Award in 2001. In 2006 the Youth team won the South Lancs Counties Youth Division Championship and retained this title in the 2007/08 season. The Youth Division became the first ever Liverpool County Cup winners from the South Lancs Counties League in 2008

Open 9am-6pm week days, and late night Thursdays, this shopping centre is ideal for finding all the latest clothes and electricals. Shops range from Debenhams, Millets and Republic to Carphone Warehouse and Apogaeum. There is also a large variety of restaurants and café’s including Millie’s Cookies and Scoop! Ice Cream. With two under cover car parks and two minutes walk from Central Station it is easily accessible. This shopping centre re-opened in 2007 after a £120million makeover, involving building a new bus station.

This free entry museum has a wide range of exhibits from the Victorian era, prehistoric collections, an Egyptian mummy and local wildlife. The latest exhibition-Mr Smithies and the Lost Tombs of Peru!-is open from 25th Oct 08 until the 21st March 09. This exhibition tells the story of a gifted local amateur archaeologist and showcases his rare collection of ancient artefacts, including pots, skulls and even Peruvian mummies, as well as metalwork and domestic objects.
