Franchise FAQs

Find an answer to the most common questions for a prospective franchise owner

Do I need any special qualifications?

No, this business will suit both males & females. None of our franchisees have ever run a home search / lettings business before and come from varied backgrounds but all have great customer service skills. Like many service businesses, letting agency & home search is about people dealing with people, so effective communication skills are an advantage. Other than that, basic administration and IT skills and a commonsense approach is all that you will require. We provide full training in letting & management to a level 2 BTEC qualification in order to practice and also training in our home search & acquisition services.

Do I need office premises?

No, all our franchise operations must be run from home which means they can build their business up with low overheads and low capital investment.

Can I work part time?

No, you will need to devote full time to your new business, however, working from home and making your own appointments affords flexibility in your working pattern. The success of any new business is dependant on time and effort put in - you will need to develop your business to maximize its potential.

Making money

Your earnings depend on you and your efforts. Each person will have differing strengths and weaknesses. We provide a comprehensive support structure and regular quarterly business planning meetings to assist you to maximize the potential in your territory. We will assist in building a realistic business plan to reflect your skills and territory.

Getting started

This will depend on how quickly you absorb the information in the business package supplied and how much time and effort you put into your business. Following completion of training, you will be ready to commence trading, marketing your business and generating fees.

How are fees collected?

The Medics on the Move business model is especially good when it comes to getting paid. All of your fees and charges are either paid in advance or ‘at source’, in other words you receive the rent from the tenant, deduct your commission and then pass the remainder to the landlord, and with home search services, instruction fees are payable prior to any work being undertaken.

The property market

Put simply, the letting market in the UK is booming and we also help people who are ‘time poor’ to find a home. More and more people are choosing to invest their money in property and the availability of buy-to-let mortgages has brought many new landlords into the market. Likewise, rising house prices have kept many first time buyers off the property ladder and the demand for rental properties is at unprecedented levels. People are also working increasingly long hours and a much more ‘mobile’ workforce creates a demand for rental property and the need for someone to assist in searching for this when relocating from one city to another.

How do you compare to letting agency franchises?

Quite simply, lettings agency franchises only provide ONE source of income, from letting & management fees. The Medics on the Move business model provides three income streams;

  • Letting & Management Fees
  • Purchase Home Search Fees
  • Rental Home Search Fees

Do I need a lot of experience?

No, we provide all the know-how and inside knowledge to put you streets ahead of many agents who have been in the business for years. The business manual that we provide runs through the entire process of letting and managing property and home search and within a short space of time you will quickly build on this knowledge with real experience of your own. This way you will be earning money whilst learning the business.

What Advertising and Promotion is included?

Included in the package is the benefit of our ‘national’ Medics on the Move advertising and marketing activities which generate enquiries for the network. We also provide a micro-website as an additional marketing tool to generate further enquiries. We also provide franchisees with marketing tools to promote their businesses at a local level.

Do I need to make a large capital investment?

The complete comprehensive business package is £25,995 + vat. You will need to demonstrate additional working capital. As with any business you will also need enough working capital to adequately fund you in the early stages, including an allowance for ongoing local marketing & promotion. The franchise package provides you with enough stationery and marketing materials to take you through your first 6-9 months of operation.
